Menu Command

The 'Menu' command is used within an advanced voice script to allow touchtone links to other commands.

The menu command will listen for touchtone input, then direct the caller to the correct command. If no touchtone is assigned to the menu command, STFax will play the 'InvalidInput' warning, which states "I'm sorry, the phone key you pressed does not support any available feature".

The menu command can also be used embedded into an advanced voice tree script. A good example would be where you use the 'Menu' command to play a list of available departments or extensions, listen for the touchtone input, then divert the caller to the required extension.

Understanding the Menu Preferences

• Play message: - this is the message that is played when the caller reaches the menu, be it at the front or embedded into an advanced tree script.

• Use personalised greeting  - you can assign different greetings per user in the phonebook. If you set the 'Use personalised greeting', then the greeting you have assigned to this Caller ID will be played instead of the message you have selected for 'Play message', within this window.

• Timeout: - this is the amount of time, in seconds, that the menu will wait until moving to the next command within the script list. For instance, if timeout was set to '60' (60 seconds), the menu would move to the following command within the script - ie. 'call operator' or similar.

• Touchtones: - the number of touchtones the menu should listen for, before trying to move to the requested command. For instance, if you have '20' as a menu item, you should have touchtones set to '2', as the menu command will need to wait for two separate tones (ie. 2+0) before trying to move to the command linked to tone 20.
